InstaGiv’s widget combines SMS, video and social media for cancer charity

The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC) in partnership with the Belfast Telegraph is using a widget developed by mobile fundraising provider InstaGiv to raise funds using a combination of mobile text giving, video and social media.

InstaGiv Managing Director Michael Carlin describes the new widget as a movable and sharable mini-application. “It can be shared anywhere, anytime” he said, “via websites, blogs or social media platforms. It is also fully functional on the Facebook news feed thus giving direct access to the 20 million Facebook users in the UK. That means that a charity can exploit the power of video and have its message quickly spread to a potentially huge audience”.

Supporters can share the widget bearing the charity’s message with their friends and contacts, and they can make text donations by entering their mobile phone numbers via the widget’s donation function.
