London Councils wants more views on future of grants scheme

Councils is again inviting comments from the voluntary sector on the scope of Boroughs Grants Scheme.

The original consultation ran last year but the High Court ruled that the the resultant decision by London Councils did not consider in enough detail the impact that changes to the scheme could have on equalities.

Following legal opinion and other expert advice from the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, London Councils will run the supplementary consultation for a month.

London Councils’ Corporate Director of Services, Nick Lester said: “We are now moving quickly to ensure we meet our equalities duties and to provide the voluntary sector with some clarity in this turbulent time.”

The closing date for responses is 5pm on 8 April 2011.
