A Record Christmas Delivery to Charity from Childbase
21st December: Childbase, a leading UK childcare company, collected a record breaking 1800 Christmas boxes this year for its annual Shoe Box Appeal. This Christmas based appeal organised by Childbase with the help of The Linda McDonald Foundation delivers donated gifts to children in Bulgaria who are living in poverty. Between the 14th and 18th December a team of Childbase staff hand delivered the carefully wrapped presents to hundreds of disadvantaged children and needy orphans who live in some of the poorest part of Bulgaria.
The Shoe Box Appeal was organised centrally by a team from the company’s Head Office in Newport Pagnell. Over a period of 8 weeks, they worked with their colleagues from across each of Childbase’s 39 nurseries, encouraging children and parents to get involved by donating presents in wrapped shoe boxes.
The 1800 boxes were collected and brought to Newport Pagnell and then dispatched to Bulgaria where a team of 9 Childbase staff, plus one parent, met the delivery and delivered the presents to the Bulgarian children living in Yambol and Sliven. The Childbase team spent five days in Bulgaria visiting the orphanages and children’s centres, taking time to listen to some of the childcare issues faced by the carers.

“Everyone across our organisation rolled up their sleeves and did all they could for the Shoe Box Appeal this year and as a result we collected 600 more boxes than last year. Not only have they encouraged the children and parents from our nurseries to get in involved and donate gifts but 9 of our team and one of our parents dedicated their time to finding out more about how the Bulgarian orphanages and centres look after the children in their care. It was our team’s absolute pleasure to be able to help colleagues who face incredible challenges but still provide the most wonderful care for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. ”
