TV documentary to profile Community Champions
The Community Channel is celebrating its tenth anniversary by launching a campaign to find and honour the UK’s ‘Community Champions’, the people whose “small acts of kindness make a significant impact”. The winner, the person with the highest number of registered votes, will be featured in a documentary to be aired on the channel.
The Community Channel is therefore encouraging the public to nominate or vote for those individuals who inspire them by giving back to their communities.
Esther Rantzen, the spokesperson for the campaign, said: “It’s a fantastic idea that gives the nation a chance to show their appreciation for those who make a difference, so please do have a think about people who have helped in your area and get voting.”
Nominations and voting runs from 20 September to 24 October 2010.
Community Channel is a Media Trust initiative and is broadcast 24 hours a day on Sky 539, Virgin TV 233 and from 5am to 8am on Freeview 87.
