More £5 notes available from cash machines

Five pound notes are popular and in demand, according to consumer surveys, so banks and building societies will be stuffing more of them into their cashpoints. That’s according to the BBC (“Plans for more £5 notes in cash machines“). You, like I, have probably noticed that they’ve been disappearing as an option on cash machines for some time.

There are reasons why £5 notes have been phased out from cash machines, most notably their comparatively short lifespan, and the cost of keeping cashpoints sufficiently supplied with them given the higher demand for them.
But, they are staging a comeback on the high street. So, expect more in your collecting tins, if you’re lucky.
