Localcause offers 12 month free accounts for small charities

Howard Lake | 30 June 2010 | News

LocalCause, the online portal for smaller charities and community groups, is offering 12 months free access to the site to a limited number of causes.
LocalCause enables small organisations to create and manage a flexible, accessible and low-cost (£95 a year) web presence to promote their cause and activities. The organisations can also benefit from having their news, appeals, events and other information listed and distributed via the portal.
Organisers can add unlimited articles, blogs, publications, campaigns, events and job vacancies using tools that allow you to easily add text, images and links to other pages or uploaded documents.
Community members can then comment on your content, support your cause and campaigns, sign petitions, sponsor/donate/buy items, attend and participate in events, register their interest in vacancies and communicate with you via direct messages, chat or forums. The annual package includes statistical reports to help organisations see how their content is being viewed.
The 12 months free access offer is available to a limited number of causes, with the aim of generating more content, and to enable the more active causes to provide feedback and help influence the future direction of the site. Interested causes should contact Paul Gardner on 0191 536 4781.
LocalCause is a for-profit business, but with “a highly sociable aim”. As well as reinvesting a “high percentage” of its profits into continual service development, it offers ongoing support via regular contact with each cause, “highlighting and rewarding good practice whilst providing advice and support to those who could be more effective.”
