Debenhams raises £230,000 for children's charities

Debenhams raises £230,000 for children's charities

Debenhams staff and customers have raised more than £230,000 in the last year for the NSPCC, CHILDREN 1ST, and the ISPCC.

The sum was raised through a range of in-store charity initiatives, including sales of Christmas cards, donations from Santa’s Grottos, and in-store bucket collections. In addition, Debenhams donated 20% of the retail price of all sales from its new Blue Zoo range for children during the range’s two-week launch. Over £38,000 was donated via the Debenhams’ charity Gift Card scheme.

Debenhams head of PR Ed Watson said: “It’s very clear that the work that all three charities do resonates with our customers. It’s also great that the work we are doing is building each year – the Blue Zoo t-shirt being a great example. We look forward to raising even more money over the coming year.”

Account Manager for CHILDREN 1ST Cassie Oliver said: “The Debenhams stores in Scotland raised over £22,000. This is a brilliant achievement and we’d like to thank them on behalf of vulnerable children across Scotland”. Fundraising Manager for the ISPCC Anne Cooney added: “I would like to thank everyone in Debenhams in Ireland for their enthusiasm and commitment in their support of the ISPCC”.

The latest donations bring the overall total raised by Debenhams for the three children’s charities to over £700,000 since December 2007.
