International development charity Sightsavers has won an award in the Charity/Good Cause-Related category at this year’s ECMOD Awards for Business Excellence.
The awards, presented last week by Sky News anchor Dermot Murnaghan, recognise innovation and flair in the catalogue and multi-channel sector. Sightsavers was awarded for the creativity and fundraising effectiveness of its Gift of Sight Christmas catalogue.
The catalogue offers a range of gifts which raise funds to support the charity’s projects in eye care, education and the rehabilitation of people who are blind and visually impaired in developing countries.
“At a time when the recession was having an impact on charity income, the catalogue delivered a significant increase in sales compared to the previous year,” said Sightsavers’ Marketing & Innovations Executive Helen Slater.
