Across the Divide organises ‘Ride of Britain’ for Ben Fogle and James Cracknell in aid of SSAFA Forces Help
Across the Divide, has stepped up to the challenge by organising an extreme event for charity in the space of just ten days.
The challenge event specialist was approached by the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help, to manage the operations of an expedition being undertaken in support of the charity by well known adventurers Ben Fogle and James Cracknell.
On October 3, the pair began a 450 mile, non-stop rickshaw marathon from Edinburgh to London, completing the challenge in just 53 hours, to arrive in London in time for the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards. Throughout the duration of the gruelling expedition, Ben and James cycled both day and night, taking it in turns to rest for short periods of time.

Across the Divide is a leading company in organising charity and corporate challenges and was approached by SSAFA to manage the logistics for the Ride of Britain. Across the Divide was responsible for checking the suggested route for deviations and road works, all health and safety elements and the provision of professional staff and medics.
Karen Woodgate from SSAFA says, “We couldn’t have done this without using a company like Across the Divide. With ATD involved, it left us free to concentrate on raising awareness, fundraising and co-ordination. All of the logistics have been handled by Across the Divide and the help provided has been essential.”
Quality and safety is paramount to Across the Divide, and the company provided three highly qualified expedition medics to accompany Ben and James. Throughout the journey, the pair were followed by a high visibility van, carrying the three medics and a rickshaw mechanic.
Ben Fogle says, ‘Behind every challenge and adventure is a logistics team that work tirelessly behind the scenes. Across the Divide provide the support and logistics that ensured a safe and successful adventure. They organised the event in record time without compromising safety or quality. Quite simply, we couldn’t have done it without them’ Ben Fogle
Across The Divide has over 13 years experience of organising exceptional worldwide challenges and has helped to raise over £43 million pounds for worthy causes. Quality and safety is paramount to Across the Divide and all events are planned using highly qualified staff and experienced UK medical teams.
