Arsenal raises £532,816 for Teenage Cancer Trust
Arsenal Football Club has raised £532,816 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, its Charity of the Season for 2008/09, beating its target of £300,000.
The money raised through the ‘Be a Gooner. Be a Giver’ campaign is more than any of the totals over the past six years in which Arsenal’s Charity of the Season initiative has run.
The 12-month partnership included a dedicated matchday – Arsenal v Liverpool – in December 2008. All first team players and directors donated a day’s wages to Teenage Cancer Trust and supporters were encouraged to do the same. £210,000 was raised in just one day.

Other partnership highlights included ‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’, a ten-lap fun-run around Emirates Stadium; a raffle to win a unique Citroën C4 designed by cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, and the Legends & Youth Ball at Emirates Stadium hosted by Little Britain star Matt Lucas and attended by the first team, Arsène Wenger and a other celebrity supporters.
The 2009 Charity of the Season will be Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
