B&Q Ireland has agreed to adopt the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland as their Charity of the Year for 2009 and 2010.

The partnership will involve a national fundraising drive in all nine B&Q stores in Ireland. Events planned for the year include collection weekends, family fun days and information days in all stores as well as all B&Q staff undertaking local and national fundraising activities.

The partnership was recently launched at the MS Ireland Care and Respite Centre in Dublin, where the senior management team in B&Q Ireland had an opportunity to visit the MS Ireland 12 bedded centre.

Ron Metcalfe Regional Manager B&Q Ireland says:

“B&Q is proud to be associated with the work of MS Ireland and the work it does for those affected by Multiple Sclerosis. We held a recent regional mangers meeting at the MS Care and Respite Centre and were able to see at first hand the fantastic work undertaken by the Society.”

Craig Verdon B&Q’s General Manager for Naas says of their fundraising activities:

“ B&Q Naas is delighted to be working with MS Ireland and we have already linked up with the local branch in Naas to help us better understand their work locally and how our fundraising will impact on people with MS in our community.”

Paul Collins Fundraising Manager of MS Ireland said they had taken great care to link local B&Q stores to local MS Ireland branches to maximise fundraising efforts as well as letting B&Q staff and customers see at first hand how their support will help people locally.
