Charitable trust grant levels to remain stable

Howard Lake | 10 June 2009 | News

Northern Ireland’s biggest independent charitable trust, Ulster Garden Villages, has confirmed that its grant giving will not be reduced despite the economic recession.

“At this point in time we do not consider that our annual distribution will be reduced,” a spokesperson for Ulster Garden Villages (UGV) told the Northern Ireland Ireland Council for Voluntary Action.

UGV’s statement follows other soundings which indicate that charitable trust giving in Northern Ireland will not be significantly hit in the recession.

NICVA reports that, bar one, trust contributions to the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland would remain the same, in proportion to contributions in the rest of the UK.

UGV’s grant priorities are health, disadvantaged sections of society, young people, culture and heritage and environment.
