Hugh Jackman offers $100,000 via Twitter

Australian actor Hugh Jackman, star of the new film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has used Twitter to announce that he will donate $100,000 to a nonprofit recommended by one of his Twitter followers.
Earlier this morning he announced: “I will donate 100K to one individual’s favorite non profit organization.Of course, you must convince me why by using 140 characters or less.”
This makes the application form one of the shortest ever offered to fundraisers.
Mr Jackman has not specified a closing date but in a message posted one hour after the announcement he suggested announcing the winner on a radio show on “Friday 24th”.
There have been no updates yet from Mr Jackman about the offer, apart from one reply to @wlraider70 saying “The more passion shown for your charity the better! Get the support of your friends and teach them the importance of giving”.

Given the ease with which celebrities can be impersonated on Twitter, such offers should be treated with caution. Nevertheless, the story has been reported elsewhere including The Daily Telegraph (Hugh Jackman makes $100,00 charity pledge on Twitter) (sic), and Professional Fundraising (X-Man money’s on the Twitter table).
