Breast Cancer Care offers online charity will-making service

Howard Lake | 11 February 2009 | News

Breast Cancer Care is to offer will-making services ‘at a distance’ in partnership with legal firm, Flint Bishop. It claims that it will be the first UK-wide charity to offer such an online service, and hopes it will increase legacy income.
It is starting this month to offer the FB wills Direct service to its supporters, staff and volunteers through its website. The service allows supporters to make a will from the comfort of their own home, without having to visit a solicitor.
The tool enables individuals and couples to make a will online, over the phone, or by post. They can choose from four different types of will: Basic Single, Basic Mirror, Property Trust and Discretionary Trust.
Murray Lindo, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Breast Cancer Care said: “As a care charity we are extremely grateful for the generosity that people have spontaneously shown in the past by making provision for us in their wills.
“We also have a hunch that for many people, making a will is one of those things that is easy to put off, not least because of the time and costs involved. So we hope that by offering this simple, reasonably priced option, some of our supporters will be able to tick this task off their to-do list, and that offering this service will help us develop our legacy income stream over the long term.”
Breast Cancer Care joins 20 other Flint Bishop partner organisations, including the British Medical Association and the Land Registry, in offering the service which launched in 2007.
