University of Cambridge chooses Camfed as Charity of the Year

Howard Lake | 15 January 2009 | News

The University of Cambridge has chosen Camfed as its Charity of the Year. Camfed is dedicated to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in rural Africa by educating girls and investing in their economic independence and leadership.
As it celebrates its 800th Anniversary Year, the University will help both raise funds for the charity and raise its profile. It is creating opportunities for staff and students to contribute to the charity during 2009.
For example, Cambridge United FC has already donated 1,200 tickets for University staff and students for their match on 29 January against Oxford United FC. A nominal charge will be made to staff and all proceeds will be donated to Camfed.
