National mapping agency Ordnance Survey is to sponsor the British Heart Foundation’s walks and hikes series from September 2008 until December 2009.

The partnership kicked off with a team of Ordnance Survey colleagues taking part in the BHF’s Heart of Surrey walk in Dorking.

Throughout the year Ordnance Survey staff will be supporting the BHF in a range of fundraising activities including cycling in the BHF’s London to Brighton Bike Ride, organising their own events as well as taking part in some of the charity’s walks.

Douglas Rouse, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the British Heart Foundation, welcomed the partnership, adding: "It’s fantastic that the BHF will be able to tap in to Ordnance Survey’s mapping expertise to help enhance our events to make them even more enjoyable for our participants."

Ordnance Survey’s Victoria Barrett said: "This really is the perfect partnership. One of our aims, as Britain’s national mapping agency, is to encourage the nation to get outside and explore the diverse and beautiful landscape this country has to offer".
