IFC falls into the dreaded 'sandbox'…

Howard Lake | 9 September 2008 | Blogs

Charities should beware Google’s ‘sandbox’ when they change their url. Merely linking the old url to their site’s new host, may push them into the ‘sandbox’.
The IFC recently moved from www.ifc.tc (based on Turks and Caicos Islands – don’t ask) to www.internationalfundraisingconsultancy.com and bagged www.internationalfundraisingconsultancy.co.uk for good measure. Unfortunately, instead of continuing our meteoric rise up the Goole hit list we have fallen off altogether, and reside somewhere deep in that pit. A few months have passed and though Google say it is just the maths based searches doing their thing, we say sandbox!

By the way IFC hasn’t got thousands of links – just a handful.
