Architects offer consultations to aid homeless

Howard Lake | 30 March 2008 | News

The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and homelessness charity the Simon Communities of Ireland have launched their nationwide “Simon Open Door” campaign. On 12th April in exchange for a €75 donation to Simon, members of the public will get an opportunity to have a one hour consultation with an RIAI architect.
Hundreds of RIAI members are participating throughout the country and members of the public can book a slot with their chosen architect via www.simonopendoor.ie. This is the fourth year that the RIAI have supported the Simon Communities of Ireland. Last year the initiative raised over €38,000 and the RIAI and Simon hope to exceed that figure in 2008. All participating architects are giving their time for free and every cent raised will go directly to the Simon Communities of Ireland.
Registration and donations for the event are transacted entirely via the internet.
Simon and the architects’ body have produced a “ten top tips” for members of the public who would like to take part in the Simon Open Door Day to make the consultation more productive.
