New technology for Norwood campaign

Howard Lake | 7 March 2008 | News

Children and family services charity Norwood has developed an innovative online marketing concept to use in its latest campaign.
Front Rider involves a series of challenges which will be broadcast across the internet and which are designed to raise money for the charity and awareness of the annual Capital to Coast charity cycle challenge in July.
It will see six member of the public team up with residents of Norwood’s Ravenswood Village in Berkshire, which houses 175 people with learning disabilities. Teams of two will take part in interactive, weekly challenges designed to test them mentally and physically over a period of six weeks.
Each challenge will be filmed and posted on to www.frontrider.org.uk as well as on relevant social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube for supporters to view their progress and vote for their favourite team. The winning team will ride in tandem on the Capital to Coast challenge.
The challenges will be available on the website from 27 March and each new event will appear weekly on Thursday evenings.
Front Rider will generate funds through phone and text votes from the general public and proceeds will benefit the Capital to Coast charity partners, Norwood, Sparks, The Down’s Syndrome Association and Southern FM’s Help a Local Child. Around 1,500 people took part in the challenge last year.
