Charity and voluntary sector projects funded by the National Lottery are being invited to enter The National Lottery Awards to find “the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded charity project”.
This year, winning projects will receive a £2,000 prize to spend on their project, and have their achievements highlighted on a BBC1 programme later in the year.
There are seven categories in the awards covering sport, heritage, arts, environment, voluntary/charity, health, and education. The first round of public voting will open 16 June, with a deadline of 4 July. A second round of public voting will take place between 21 July and 8 August and the winners will be announced during a special BBC1 television programme later in the year
Since The National Lottery began in 1994, Lottery players have raised £20 billion for Good Causes and over 280,000 grants have been given out.
Any Lottery-funded project, large or small, can enter or be nominated. The deadline for nominations is 5pm on 20 March 2008.
