Howard Lake | 18 February 2008 | News

Sainsbury’s Active Kids initiative, which encourages people to collect vouchers that schools and groups can convert into sports equipment and training, is back for 2008.
From now until 4 June 2008 shoppers can earn Active Kids vouchers every time they shop at Sainsbury’s. Every £10 you spend with Sainsbury’s will earn one voucher. Vouchers can be donated to schools, Scout or Guide groups.
This year Sainsbury’s has added 400 new items of sports equipment to the catalogue, and schools and groups can now choose to use their vouchers to take young people to watch top sports stars at Rugby Union, netball or basketball matches.
In addition schools, Scout or Guide groups can now donate vouchers or equipment to schools that have a greater need for them. in the UK or overseas.
Last year alone a record 233 million Active Kids vouchers were redeemed. This resulted in schools, Guide and Scout groups sharing in £18 million worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences. That is an average of £630 per school or group.
