Help Yourselves Awards 2008 open to change lives of children and young people

Save the Children and British Gas have announced that applications for the 2008 Help Yourselves Awards are now being accepted. The Awards will fund projects that make a difference to young people’s lives and communities through the improvement of life chances.
Currently awards are for £1,000 but higher-level awards of up to £5,000 and £10,000 will be available in future funding rounds.
The awards are open to groups, not individuals, although individuals can submit applications on behalf of such groups. Projects must take place within England, Scotland or Wales.
Project ideas must come from children and young people and involve them at every stage. “We encourage groups of children and young people to apply,” say Save the Children.
The next deadline for completed applications is 28 March 2008 – with £1,000 funded projects expected to take place between June and the end of August 2008.
