The UK Fundraising Newswire, which features the latest news releases about fundraising, is once again available on UK Fundraising.
The free service lets PR staff at charities, fundraising agencies and PR agencies publish news releases live onto UK Fundraising. The releases then become searchable on the site, are published in RSS format, are archived on the site, and the latest five appear on the front page.
Launched in March 2006, the Newswire has carried over 350 news releases from 130 contributors. It is designed to help charities and fundraising agencies ensure coverage on UK Fundraising, whether or not their news release is used as the basis for a front page news item.
Now available as part of the redeveloped UK Fundraising, new releases are already being added to the newswire. The new site now offers greater promotion of news releases through RSS publication and links to social networking or bookmarking sites like Facebook and del.icio.us. PR staff will also find the page view statistics at the bottom of each release useful in tracking the news releases’ readership.
It is expected that more charities will choose to use the UK Fundraising Newswire to announce:
* new fundraising appeals
* grants made or received
* upcoming fundraising days/weeks
* upcoming fundraising events
* new fundraising appointments
* new partnerships with corporates or other funders
To qualify for inclusion on the newswire, wews releases must be directly related to fundraising and be written in a recognisable news release format (see previous examples). As usual UK Fundraising reserves the right not to publish a newswire contribution: for example, news releases that read more like commercial adverts by fundraising companies, will probably not make the grade.
To post news releases to the UK Fundraising Newswire, contact Howard Lake at hl***@fu*********.uk, indicating which organisation you represent and what kind of news releases you would like to post.
