UK Fundraising launches low-cost shop of fundraising expertise

UK Fundraising has launched an online shop offering downloadable documents full of practical, informed fundraising advice from a range of different fundraisers and fundraising consultants.

All the documents cost either £5, £10, or £20.

The shop is designed to make good quality fundraising advice available to a wide audience at a very low cost. Each document addresses a particular issue or guides you through how to solve a particular fundraising problem.

Documents available at launch include:

* Writing a Winning Proposal (Gerry Beldon, 26-01.com)

* Online Performance Metrics – Measuring Your Website Value (Sarah Hughes, Charity 21)

* Marketing Opportunity Assessment Checklist (Kevin Baughen, Bottom Line Ideas)

* Funraising ideas (Gerry Beldon, 26-01.com)

The shop offers material that is concise, often structured in bullet points, the product of experience rather than theory, and that is light on jargon.

Some of the material has been created by UK Fundraising’s Howard Lake, but the majority of it comes from a growing range of other fundraisers and fundraising advisers and consultants.

Howard Lake explained: “UK Fundraising has a vast amount of fundraising information and advice on it available at no charge, but sometimes fundraisers simply want a comprehensive but concise answer to a particular question.

“This is why we have created the UK Fundraising Shop. We’ve approached many fundraisers and fundraising experts we know and all of them so far have agreed to take part and provide material.

“Of course, I think their expertise is worth far more than the low sums we are charging, but I wanted to give fundraisers at any sized charity or organisation the chance to access this expertise at prices all of them could afford.

“Some fundraisers might not be able to afford even a half-day’s consultancy with some of these contributors or attend on of their training courses, so the UK Fundraising Shop gives them another opportunity.”

The shop summarises what each document contains and makes it clear what the purchaser is getting. If a 10 page document contains a front cover image and a back page with details of the author’s services then that is made clear.

UK Fundraising is also looking out for more expert fundraising advice to sell, and welcomes suggestions.
