Radio 4 announcers on fundraising walk for Lymphoma Association

Howard Lake | 31 January 2008 | News

Newsreaders and announcers on BBC Radio 4 will be off-the-air on 7 April as they undertake a fundraising walk in the countryside to raise money for the Lymphoma Association. The ‘Pilgrimage to the Pips’ event is their response to the news that their colleague Morrison has been diagnosed with a rare and currently incurable type of cancer.
The announcers, including Charlotte Green, Brian Perkins, Peter Donaldson, and Corrie Corfield, will be walking to Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex, which for nearly 50 years has been home to ‘The Pips’, the distinctive six electronic beeps that sound hourly before each news on BBC Radio 4.
The organisers have also created a Facebook group to promote the appeal. They are using the Justgiving app for Facebook, and encouraging supporters to add it to their Facebook pages too.
