Foresters members and branches raised £200,000 for children’s hospices throughout the UK in 2007.
Funds were raised through a variety of activities including, ‘Nun Runs’ where hundreds of runners gathered in Sheffield and Newcastle for a one-mile fun run dressed in nuns’ habits. Teams were invited to get wet, wild and wonderful at ‘It’s a Knockout’ events, and gather teams to take part in golf days. Family Fun days, open days and summer fetes were also held in hospice gardens across the UK.
At the end of the year Foresters supported several ‘Light up a Life’ remembrance carol services and Festival Chorus Concerts.
Steve Dilworth, Membership Director at Foresters, said: “Foresters have increased their fundraising in the community year-on-year; and in 2007 we helped to raise £29 million for charities throughout the UK, Canada and North America.”
