iT4Communities, the national IT volunteering charity, has made its ‘Getting Free IT Help’ workshop materials available online as free download. The workshop aims to help any voluntary or community organisation’s staff “to feel confident that they could use an IT volunteer to support their organisation.”
The materials available are a Powerpoint and an exercise.
The workshop itself covers:
* Is an IT volunteer the best option/an option/the only option?
* What are the advantages & disadvantages of using IT volunteers?
* Voice your experiences and/or concerns
* How to manage an IT volunteer project to success
* Looking at appropriate IT projects; ideas and tips
IT4Communities runs workshops in partnership with infrastructure organisations, CVS, Volunteer Centres or consortia. It will also run a version for companies looking to motivate their IT staff to volunteer.
