Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland has distributed £112,000 in the third tranche of grants from money raised for its Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal. Funds distributed include those raised from Fashion For Relief, a charity fashion show organised by Naomi Campbell at the end of London Fashion Week.
Priority has been given to sustainable community based projects and community recovery activities. Grants have been made to:
* replace equipment at Tewkesbury Youth Centre (£4,014)
* upgrade drains and pipes at Hop Skip and Jump Day Centre, Cheltenham (£4,500)
* replace equipment at St David’s Primary School, Moreton in The Marsh (£3,570)
* replace equipment for juniors at Evesham Cricket Club (£2,860)
* replace books in 14 Primary School Libraries in Hull (£35,000)
and many other projects.
This brings the total allocated to more than £612,000. The Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal raised over £300,000, and this was augmented by a further £600,000 of funds raised by the Fashion for Relief fashion show with more donations still coming through.
