Howard Lake | 29 October 2007 | News

A book project established four years ago by students at The University of Nottingham to equip schools in Tanzania with books and equipment will be officially launched as a national charity at the House of Commons on October 31, 2007.
READ International (Realising Education Achieving Development), which won this year’s Charity Times Award for Best New Charity, has sent thousands of books and items of educational equipment to secondary schools across Tanzania.
READ International started life at The University of Nottingham as The Tanzania Book Project. The Project was founded in 2003 by Geography student, Max Griffiths, and Film and Cultural Studies student, Alex Hawkins.
