Poppy Appeal collector wins Legion gold award for service

Congratulations to Betty Reed, 81, from Brighton for 40 years of local fundraising. She received the Royal British Legion’s gold award for service in recognition of her 40 years of voluntary support for the appeal.
Her husband, Peter Reed, a disabled ex-serviceman, died 38 years ago. Since then, she has been supported by the charity.
She told The Argus: “When Peter died it was wonderful to have the Royal British Legion there for me. After you have lost your soulmate, it makes an awful lot of difference, people coming round and helping you.”
