EFA To Unveil First European Qualification Framework for Fundraising at IFC

Howard Lake | 18 October 2007 | Newswire

The European Fundraising Association (‘EFA’) is to launch the first Europe-wide fundraising qualification framework at the International Fundraising Congress in Holland on 22nd October 2007.
Aiming to raise standards in fundraising across Europe and to promote philanthropy, the qualification framework – EFA Certification – recognises professional fundraising training of the highest standard.
Dr Marita Haibach, President of the European Fundraising Association, says:
The European fundraising community has come together to create a robust qualification framework based upon a common set of fundraising standards. We believe that professional standards are the key to building public trust in charity and that a Europe-wide recognised qualification will be instrumental in enabling fundraisers to raise more money.”
The Institute of Fundraising – a founder member of EFA – has supported the development of the Europe-wide qualification framework. The Institute has submitted the UK professional qualification – the Certificate in Fundraising Management – for validation by the EFA.
Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising, comments:
A common European qualification is a key move in ensuring consistency of standards across Europe. Fundraising is increasingly visible on a global scale and consistency of standards is essential in order to improve public understanding of the professional way that charities operate.”
The EFA Certification programme is being developed with funding from the European Commission’s Leonardo da Vinci programme.
