Charities for Change launched by consortium

A new payroll giving scheme that will benefit five charities in the UK has been launched.

Charities for Change has been put together by RNID, The Childrens’ Society, WaterAid, the RSPCA and Breaththrough Breast Cancer with donations being equally split between the five.

It will work through the payroll giving system so employees can give straight from their gross salary, making it tax-effective. The consortium is working with Workplace Giving UK during a test period.

Spokesman Ben Weatherley, direct marketing officer at The Children’s Society said: There are a lot of potential payroll giving donors out there. This is aimed at the donor who hasn’t got a strong affiliation with any one charity.Anything charities can to do give people an extra incentive to give helps.

Weatherley said the consortium did not yet have a website, but was looking to develop one in the future.
