It's good to talk, and talk, and talk for the British Red Cross

Tony Wright from Cornwall has broken the world record for the longest telephone conversation and raised funds for the British Red Cross in the process.

To claim the record he had to keep speaking for at least 39 hours. Given that he had claimed in the past to have stayed awake for 11 days non-stop it seemed he was always in with a good chance.

He spoke to a rota of staff at a Tesco’s store in Kensington, London, each of whom talked with him for 20 minutes at a time. Tesco, demonstrating that on this occasion it has more rabbit than Sainsbury’s, is donating £100 per completed hour to the British Red Cross.
