Chico Slimani, the X-Factor contestant who achieved a number one single in March 2006, is to raise funds for eating disorder charity beat by performing live in 12 counties over 12 hours.

His upcoming single ‘Curvy Cola Bottle Baby’ is also intended to help raise further awareness of the issues the charity addresses by promoting a healthy body image.

A beat spokesperson said: “We welcome the message Chico is putting across through his music – people suffering from an eating disorder find the media and fashion industry’s portrayal of size zero unhelpful and discouraging when they themselves are
battling against an illness which can destroy lives.
