Widow donates £50 million to charitable trust

Margie Moffat, the widow of AT Mays travel agent founder Jim Moffat, has donated £50 million to the Moffat Charitable Trust set up after his death. The trust expects to make grants of £3 million a year to causes across Scotland.

The first beneficiary will be the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland which will receive £1 million.

Trust chairman Jamie Moffat explained that his mother wanted to develop the commitment to the community shown by her late husband’s by making a substantial donation so that she could see the benefits it achieved in her lifetime.
