CAF invites companies to enter Companies and Communities Awards

Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) is calling on companies to enter its Companies and Communities Awards, which recognise the positive social impact that companies have on their communities.

Now in their fourth year, the awards are open to companies large and small in all sectors. The level of investment is not the main factor in the judging: instead the judges will be looking at the impact that the activity has had on the community, and on the business itself.

There are three different award categories:

* Most Innovative – award for radical and inspiring examples of innovative community investment projects

* Community Investment Award for Stakeholder Engagement – award for involvement of employees in community projects, as well as engaging customers, suppliers, shareholders and other stakeholders

* Community Investment Award for Most Effective Company Giving – award for leveraging resources such as cash/grantmaking and gifts in kind

Russell Prior, Executive Director, Company and International Services, said: “There has been an increase in donations of 18% from the top 500 corporate charitable donors this year, and corporate community investment is becoming an ever more critical element of corporate responsibility programmes, therefore we anticipate a higher level and quality of entries than ever before.

“… We are particularly keen to welcome smaller businesses to enter the awards, as the impact of these programmes on communities can be particularly significant regardless of the volume of resource available.”

The closing date for entries to be received is 8 October 2007.
