The Charity of the Year partnership between Tates Ltd and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) has raised £172,000 to help the charity in its fight against heart disease.

Tates Ltd is a convenience store operator with 206 SPAR stores across England and Wales. During their two year partnership with the BHF, Tates have managed to raise over £172,000 through a variety of employee fundraising initiatives. Activity included sky dives, scary sleepovers, race nights, 24 hour bike rides and ‘wear red to work’ days.

The partnership was initially launched for twelve months in June 2005 but was deemed such a success that it was extended for an additional year in June 2006. Tates’ success was also rewarded at the BHF’s inaugural Heart of Business Awards last year where Tates Ltd picked up the award for “Outstanding results in building community support”.
