FSB must change logo and acronym

Howard Lake | 18 June 2007 | News

Just months after its launch, the Fundraising Standards Board has been forced to change its logo and acronym because of a potential identity clash with another organisation.

The Federation of Small Businesses also uses the acronym FSB widely within the business community, although its logo is quite different to that of the Fundraising Standards Board. The Federation contacted the Board while it was going through the legal process to register its logo and asked that it change the acronym.

Chief executive of the Fundraising Standards Board Jon Scourse said they had not anticipated any issue as the two organisations worked in different sectors. However, the decision was taken not to pursue the registration as it would have been an expensive and lengthy process to challenge legally and the Board felt it would not be a good use of funds.

The logo will change from 9 July and the acronym will become FRSB. Members and other stakeholders should use the new logo by 1 November on all new or reprinted materials wherever they can, but they can use up materials with the existing FSB logo. The website will also change its address to www.frsb.org.uk.
