Saffron Building Society is seeking applications from charities in its branch network area of Eastern England for a £10,000 grant.

Andy Golding, Chief Executive of Saffron Building Society, said: “Our organisation reaches across Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and East London and we want to ensure that we know about any charity in the region that could use the money.”

Last year’s winner was Uttlesford Crossroads, which needed funding to help provide respite services for carers throughout north Essex. The Society not only provided money but Andy Golding also joined the charity’s board to offer advice on the organisation’s finances.

The closing date for applications is 20 July 2007. Application forms can be downloaded from the Society’s website.

The Society also recognises the fundraising work carried out by its staff by matching the amount they raise, up to £250 per person.

In future the Society will also allocate money to each of its 12 branches for charitable support.
