British Red Cross Gala Ball raises over £250,000

Howard Lake | 7 June 2007 | News

The annual British Red Cross Gala Ball this week raised over £250,000 for the charity from its 500 guests. The Ball’s theme was ‘East Meets West’, bringing together influential people from across the world and reflecting the Red Cross’ principles of neutrality and universality.

Guests attended a reception and dinner at one of a selection of Ambassadors’ residences before being taken to Old Billingsgate for entertainment, auction and dancing. Jazz musician Jamie Cullum headlined the variety show, presented by Angela Rippon. Guests including Anthony Andrews, Miss World, Peter Blake, and over 30 Ambassadors attended.

This year’s auction prizes included the chance to appear in the next Ridley Scott film, and to be named as a character in the next Andy McNab book. The auction raised over £41,000 in a matter of minutes.
