Woodland Trust launches affinity card with The Co-operative Bank

Howard Lake | 23 April 2007 | News

The Woodland Trust has launced a credit card with The Co-operative Bank. It joins fellow environmental organisations Greenpeace, RSPB and Friends of the Earth’s BIG ASK campaign in offering a credit card from the Bank.

The Woodland Trust will receive £20 for every card account opened before 20 June 2007 and £15 for every account opened thereafter. The charity receives a further £2.50 if the card is used within six months, and 25p for every £100 spent on the card.

The card is made from PETG, a plastic which has “virtually eliminated chlorine and other toxic chemicals found in most standard PVC credit cards”.

The charity will use funds generated by the card to conserve the UK’s woodland, and plant more trees.

Sue Holden, chief executive of the Woodland Trust, said: The Co-operative Bank’s ethics and commitment to lower its impact on the environment sits well with our aims as a charity, and the views of our supporters.”
