Business advisors PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has selected two of Northern Ireland’s major cancer charities as fund-raising partners for 2007. Over the next 12 months, PwC’s 750 Northern Ireland staff will actively support the work of the Ulster Cancer Foundation and the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

PwC’s efforts will be directed at projects and fund-raising events to raise money for the charities’ work. PwC’s Martin Ferguson says staff nominated the two charities because of the importance of their work.

Increasing awareness of the causes of cancer and ultimately defeating the disease – whether in children or in adults – is a cause with which we are proud to be associated.

One of the objectives of this partnership will be to engage staff in fund-raising initiatives for two charities that otherwise largely depend on public donations to provide vital services to children and adults affected by cancer.

Arlene Spiers, chief executive of UCF, said a partnership with a prestigious company such as PwC was very important as they try to forge wider relationships with the business community.
