Community Channel offers "Chugger Chase" game online

The Community Channel has launched an online game in which players get to avoid a ‘chugger’ or face-to-face fundraiser.

“Ever been in a hurry and confronted by a ‘chugger’?” says the game’s introduction, reminding you of course that they are referring to “a well meaning person stopping you in the high street in the name of charity.”

“Now’s a chance to take back control by playing our interactive game. Have fun!” adds the site.

Players have to collect six cups of coffee for their office colleagues from the local coffee shop but “watch those chuggers!”.

It is surprising to see another charity sector organisation using the word ‘chugger’, especially in a humorous sense. Many face to face fundraisers and organisations regard it as a nuisance term which has negative implications about a demonstrably successful method of fundraising.
