Check your charity's code for tax refund donations

To make sure that your charity can benefit from donated tax repayments from supporters, check that the Inland Revenue’s Web site lists your charity correctly.

Millions of people are now receiving their annual Self Assessment tax forms. This year they are accompanied with information on how tax payers can choose to donate to charity any tax rebates they are owed.

Tax payers wishing to do this need to look up the charity’s name and code on the Inland Revenue’s Web site, or ask the charity for it. Since many will go direct to the Inland Revenue’s site it makes sense for charities to check that they are listed accurately. VolResource newsletter reported that one charity’s information that it checked turned out to be incorrect.
