New Statesman launches New Media Awards 2007

The New Statesman is looking for new media technologies that have an impact on civic life. The emphasis on its 2007 New Media Awards is on accessibility, usability and interactivity.

The categories for this year’s awards are:

* Contribution to civic society
* Modernising government
* Elected representative
* Education
* Information and openness
* Advocacy
* Young Innovator

The judges “will be looking particularly at evidence of creative implementation of technology; a willingness to exploit the potential of new media; and an effort in making content as widely accessible as possible.”

The latest nominations include IntelligentGiving.com, the Pavement magazine for homeless people, cultural diversity site World InfoZone, and social justice online newsletter Pambazuka News.

Nominations close on 31 May 2007.
