CAF launches its first Corporates and Communities Awards
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) is offering a prize of £25,000 to the UK company with the most effective programme of community investment. The prize is to be spent to support its work with good causes.
CAF’s Corporates & Communities Awards 2004 are designed to recognise and reward companies for their community investment. They replace the CAF Hallmark Awards, which were launched in 1999 to encourage greater reporting of CCI programmes on the Internet.
The Corporates & Communities Awards 2004 are open to businesses of all sizes across the UK. Andrea Van Sittart, Head of CAF’s Corporate Services, explained: “The competition isn’t just aimed at big business; we want to encourage small and medium-sized companies to enter too. The Awards are not about how much money a company gives to charity, but what they do for the community with the resources they have.”

There are three main Awards: the Online Reporting Award, the Innovation Award, and the Award for Outstanding CCI Programme.
The CCI Online Reporting Award recognises those companies that have worked hard to create and maintain informative, attractive and engaging Web pages.
The Innovation Award recognises companies which have implemented a particularly original or resourceful project or campaign during the qualifying period between January 2003 – January 2004.
The Outstanding CCI Programme Award is aimed at those companies which can demonstrate a comprehensive CCI programme covering volunteering, payroll giving, matched giving, corporate grantmaking, sponsorship and gifts-in-kind.
The winner in each category will receive an engraved, glass trophy, while the overall winner of the Outstanding CCI programme will receive a prize of £25,000 which CAF will distribute on their behalf to the charities of their choice.
