SEASONAL FUNDRAISING BENEFITS

ST TERESA’S HOSPICE

21/12/06

Staff from Darlington’s Cornmill Shopping Centre have given their Christmas party a fundraising twist and raised more than £1000 for St Teresa’s Hospice.

The shopping centre staff raised a total of £1100 for the Darlington-based hospice, by raffling prizes that had been donated by stores within the centre.

The party, held at Escapades nightclub, was organised by security personnel Mark Johnson and Lee Howitt, with Escapades providing the venue and bar staff entirely free of charge.

All proceeds will now be used to help fund St Teresa’s Hospice’s palliative and respite care services, including Hospice at Home and specialist counselling, which are provided free of charge to people within South Durham and North Yorkshire.

Hospice Director, Jane Bradshaw, said: Christmas can be an expensive time of year for most people and it is particularly touching that the Cornmill staff have given so generously at this time of year. I would like to thank everyone who attended the party for their kind donations and for supporting us year-round.”

Mark Johnson, Security Officer at the Cornmill Shopping Centre, said: I would like to thank everyone at the centre for supporting our fundraising efforts and for giving so generously at the Christmas party.

Special thanks must go in particular to Woolworths, Passion for Perfume and Sweet Tooth Confectionary who all donated raffle prizes.”
