Fiona Duncan, who won the Professional Fundraiser award at the 2004 Institute of Fundraising/Professional Fundraising awards for her role in setting up the Giving Scotland initiative, is to join THINK Consulting Solutions.

Duncan, who was director of external affairs at Capability Scotland and chair of the Institute of Fundraising (Scotland) for three years until June 2006, will start with THINK as a senior consultant on 2 October 2006.

“We are really pleased to welcome Fiona to THINK Consulting Solutions, said managing director Tony Elischer. “She is Scotland’s highest profile fundraiser and is going to add huge depth to the THINK team.”

Duncan will be concentrating on four areas: marketing, fundraising, campaigning and management. “I’m looking forward to using all my marketing and communications skills at THINK”, she said. “But one area I would particularly like to look at is crisis management. Being involved with Giving Scotland has shown me how difficult it can be for organisations to get moving when a crisis hits them. I’d also like to do some work around merging the communications and fundraising functions and how these roles can complement marketing and campaigning strategies.”

Although Duncan will be based in Scotland, she won’t be dealing exclusively with THINK’s Scottish clients. Elischer added: “Fiona’s range of experience will be open to all our clients in the UK and internationally. But her experience in Scotland’s voluntary sector will allow us to provide our Scottish clients with a unique service.”
