Charity team swim around Ireland
A team of six swimmers — two women and four men — have swam around Ireland to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The epic 1335 km swim took eight weeks, almost a month behind their ambitious original schedule.
The team swam up to 30 miles a day but bad weather slowed progress. The swimmers also had to contend with some very cold waters around Northern Ireland.
As well as raising money for the RNLI crew training fund, the swim collected scientific material regarding both maritime conditions and the physical effect that the swim had on the team.
