Institute's Chilterns regional group appeals for new committee members

Graham Neil, chairman of the Institute of Fundraising’s Chilterns regional group, is asking its members to join the group’s committee, following a drop in the number of committee members.
Although Neil took over “an excellent working committee” nearly three years ago, he has found that “committee members have a short shelf life.” One has been posted abroad, others have moved to new jobs which don’t allow the same time commitment, and others have undertaken full-time educational courses.
As a result, Neil feels that the committee doesn’t have its former capacity to organise events and provide a fulfilling programme to its members.

So he is looking to recruit several new committee members. If he fails to rebuild and expand the committee then there is a chance that the regional group “could just be closed down”. He is determined not to let this happen, not least because the group has a membership of over 700.
In an email to members he said that he enjoys his time as chairman, finding it “exciting, challenging and fulfilling”. Committee members would need to attend the monthly meetings, and help with the gorup’s main focus which is its annual regional training day, to be held on 20 March 2007.
In particular, the committee needs a new Treasurer, and next year will need a new chairman as Neil will have to stand down in in accordance with the constitution.
